Page speed is one of the few optimizations that improves rankings, conversion rate, and ad quality score simultaneously, which makes it unusually good value. It is also the one most often skipped, because the work is invisible: nobody presents a client with a screenshot of a smaller JavaScript bundle.

The wins are rarely exotic. Oversized images served at full resolution, render-blocking scripts loaded in the head, fonts that trigger layout shift, and a stack of tracking tags nobody has audited in two years account for most of the damage.
